Shi'ite Lebanese journalist Nancy Lakiss slammed Hizbullah in an interview posted on Lebanon On YouTube channel on August 3, 2024. She said that Hizbullah should take care of the Arabs and the Lebanese people instead of seeking “to fight against the Moon, Saturn, Uranus, Neptun, and Pluto, as well as in Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq.” Regarding Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib’s remarks that he cannot restrain Hizbullah, she said that if this is the case, he should resign. Lakiss said that Shi'ites should apply the Rule of the Jurisprudent only to their own milieu rather than impose it on the entire society. She added that Hizbullah is sending young men to die in order to serve Iran’s interests and agendas in Lebanon. Lakiss said that Lebanese Christians seek professions, while Shi'ite children wish to become martyrs. In a portion of the interview not included in the clip, Nancy Lakiss said that her office was burned down because of her criticism of Hizbullah.
Lakiss: "Since the liberation [of South Lebanon in 2000] and to this day- what has Hizbullah managed to do? Tell me. What did they do for our country? Is it just Hizbullah's responsibility? Hizbullah holds the reins of the entire country.
"The economy has collapsed, but Hizbullah wants to fight against the Moon, Saturn, Uranus, Neptun, and Pluto, as well as in Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq. You want to fight all those, while your own country has collapsed, and people have no electricity, no water, no medicine. What about people with cancer? Where is their medicine? Why are you always looking outside? Hizbullah should take care of the Arabs, of the people in Lebanon. You cannot raise the banner of resistance and leave your people to die."
Interviewer: "Would you like to comment on the statements by our Foreign Minister, who said: 'I cannot control Hizbullah?'"
Lakiss: "When a cabinet member says that he cannot control Hizbullah, he should quit. He should resign and that's it. We are living inside a [Hizbullah] mini state, that decides our fate, and whether there will be war or peace, all by itself. Why? For whose sake? For the sake of the rule of the jurisprudent. This is undeniable."
Interviewer: "You are a Shi'ite woman. What does the rule of the jurisprudent mean to you? It is a religious commitment, just like the Christians are committed to the Vatican."
Lakiss: "So they should apply it to their own milieu, rather then impose it on the entire society. Today, [Hizbullah] is sending young men to die."
Interviewer: "To die or to be martyred?"
Lakiss: "To die. Obviously, they are martyrs. I am not saying otherwise, but they have to die in order to become martyrs. So they send them to die. But why? Because it serves Iran's interests and agendas in Lebanon. These martyrs pay the price for a conflict that has nothing to do with our national honor. Where is our national honor? Here or in Palestine?
"The Christians [in Lebanon] are considered to be Europeans, and so are the Israelis, so the two cultures are somehow close to one another, but this does not make [the Christians in Lebanon] Zionists. For example, in Hizbullah's milieu, they say to a child: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" And he says: "A martyr". Among the [Christians], it's different. They want to be engineers, lawyers, pilots..."
Interviewer: "But today, most of the martyrs, if not all of them – especially those who have fallen in the current war – were engineers, doctors, graduates, of the best universities abroad."
Lakiss: "Nobody says that they were ignoramuses."
Interviewer: "If all they wanted was to be martyred, they wouldn't have gone to study..."
Lakiss: "Even when someone studies and receives higher education, the brainwashing turns him into an ignoramus."
Interviewer: "Don't you believe that Allah has appointed Nasrallah to..."
Lakiss: "Come again? I didn't understand."
Interviewer: "Don't you believe that Allah has appointed Nasrallah, like he said?"
Lakiss: "He said that Allah appointed him? I haven't heard this one."
Interviewer: "A long time ago."
Lakiss: "You must be joking. This is a joke. Of course I don't believe this. Sorry, but with all due respect to Nasrallah and his turban and his culture- is it conceivable that a religious authority of such stature tells people he was appointed by Allah? He is not an infallible imam, appointed by Allah. If you want to use terms form the Shi'ite faith, he is not one of the Mahdi's emissaries, appointed by Allah.
"I can also say today that Allah appointed me. Would the people believe me? I would put on a hijab, and say that Allah appointed me. I can say that I believe now, and put on the hijab, because Allah appointed me. Let me tell you something. I also said this yesterday. If the Antichrist came and said that he supported Hizbullah, they would applaud him, so of course they believe Allah appointed Nasrallah."
