On the eve of Bashar al-Assad’s regime collapse in Syria, on December 7, 2024, a female Syrian TV anchor denied reports of military withdrawals in Homs, stating that the armed forces were ready to defend against any terrorist attacks and accusing Western media of fabricating the news. However, the following morning, December 8, a male anchor, with the Syrian opposition flag displayed on his desk, declared, "The time has come, and the sun of freedom has risen. The time has come for the removal of injustice and the dark cloud from the skies of our beloved country. […] This is Damascus, the capital of Syria, where the gates of liberty were opened."
Female News Anchor: "Dear viewers, allow me to draw your attention to what the military source said – that there is no truth to the reports by some media outlets and the [online] accounts of the terrorist organizations, about the withdrawal of any unit of our armed forces, in the city of Homs and its surroundings. These forces are fully ready, to fulfill their duties and to fend off any terrorist attack.

"It seems that Western media outlets insist on continuing their media fabrications in order to achieve their goals, but the situation on the ground is completely different from the picture presented by Western media."

Male News Anchor: "In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful. Oh members of our proud nation, the time has come, and the sun of freedom has risen. The time has come for the removal of the injustice and the dark cloud from the skies of our beloved country.

"Dear brothers, oh sons of the great Syrian people, the sons of free Syria – this is Damascus, the capital of Syria, where the gates of liberty were opened, after many long years.
