Imam in Tehran Friday Sermon Calls for "Harshest" Punishments for People Who Disrupt Public Security

Mohammad Javad Haj Ali Akbari, the chief of the Imams of Friday Prayer Policy Council, said in a Friday, November 29, 2019 sermon in Tehran that aired on Channel 1 (Iran) that the Islamic punishment for people who cause fitna, disrupt public security, and endanger people’s lives, property, and family honor is severe. He expressed hope that the recent demonstrations in Iran will be turned into an “opportunity” and that society will be “purified of the lowlifes, savages, and criminals.” He added a prayer that the “hand of divine justice that extends from the sleeve of our law enforcement and legal system” will take “quick measures.” The audience chanted: “Allah Akbar! Death to those who oppose the Rule of the Jurisprudent… Death to America! Death to England… Death to Israel!”
