Turkish Researcher Bakir Atajan: The SDF Are Terrorists – We Cannot Negotiate With Terrorists – The Only Solution Is To Kill Them And Expel Them From The Region

Turkish researcher Bakir Atajan denied, in a December 23, 2024 appearance on Al-Mashhad TV (UAE), claims that Turkey perpetrated crimes against Kurds or other people in Syria. He emphasized that if any crimes were committed, they were against terrorists and separatists—those who have perpetrated crimes against the Kurds and killed them. He stated that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the PKK, whom Trump referred to as "defenders of the oil," are collaborators with France, England, and the United States.

Atajan asserted that Turkey will fight every member of the SDF, whether they are Syrians, Iraqis, Turks, or Iranians, along with the American forces that support them. He said that there is no solution other than eliminating these “terrorists.” He added that Turkey cannot negotiate with terrorists. He further stated that the Turkish president and prime minister have declared that the SDF will be defeated, and the only solution is to kill them and expel them from the region.

Atajan lost his temper with Nawaf, a Kurdish guest on the show, calling him not a real Kurd, but a terrorist and murderer who is killing Kurds, and stating that he should be killed. He concluded, "Killers must be killed, no matter who they are."

Interviewer: "Your colleague says that Turkey has perpetuated crimes against the Kurds and others in Syria. What’s your response?"

Bakir Atajan: "This is impossible. If we perpetrated crimes, they were against the terrorists, against the separatists who have killed the Kurdish people, and perpetrated crimes against them..."

Interviewer:  "Who are you talking about?"

Atajan: "Both the Syrian Democratic Forces and the PKK..."

Interviewer: "They have perpetrated crimes against the Kurds?"

Atajan: "Yes, they killed Mashaal Tammo and the Kurds in general. They are the ones who expelled the Kurds from Afrin and from Ayn Al-Arab [Kobani]. These people that they expelled are now in Turkey. They fled the violence and terrorism of these factions that claim to be Kurdish. What did Trump call them? The defenders of the oil east of the Euphrates. Unfortunately, these are collaborators with France, England, and America.

"We will fight the SDF one member after the other – whether they are Syrians, Iraqis, Turks, or Iranians, as well as the American forces that support them, today, tomorrow, and the next day. No matter the number of victims, there is no other solution but to kill these terrorists first of all."

Interviewer: "That's a big statement, Bakir..."

Nawaf: "Yes, we cannot sit to the negotiations table with terrorists. Not now, not in the future."

Atajan: "Shut up and let me speak... The president and the foreign minister of Turkey have declared that the [SDF] would be finished off. The only solution is to kill them and expel them from this region."

Interviewer: "Calling for them to be killed is a very bloodthirsty statement... Okay, Nawaf, I have a minute and a half left..."

Nawaf: "How can I possibly talk when he is screaming?"

Interviewer: "Go ahead."

Nawaf: "If this man had been in Europe, he would have been put on trial tomorrow morning. This is incitement to hatred and a blatant call for murder. This is the kind of talk expected from him, as a spokesman for the Turkish Defense Ministry. Turkey is waging organized state-sponsored terrorism against the Kurds, not just in Syria, but in Turkey itself as well."

[...]

Atajan: "You are a terrorist! You are a murderer! We are against murderers and terrorists. You are the killers of the Turkish and the Kurdish people. You claim to be a Kurd, but there is nothing Kurdish about you. You are killing the Kurds, first and foremost."

Interviewer: "Bakir, these are severe accusations."

Atajan: "No, not severe. A killer should be killed. An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth."

Interviewer: "These are bloodthirsty statements. You are calling to kill people."

Atajan: "Killers must be killed, no matter who they are."

Interviewer: "Let's hear Nawaf, even if just for a minute."

Atajan: "By all means."

Nawaf: "This is the second time this man has threatened to kill me. He did this also when we were on Al-Arabiya TV. Now, he is threatening again to kill me. If he came to Europe, things would be different. I have no business answering someone so hostile."
