On the centennial marking the Gallipoli battles, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recited a nationalist-Islamist poem titled “Du’a.” Against the backdrop of footage of people paying homage to those killed in the war, Erdogan’s voice is heard saying: “Give us strength! Do not leave these fields of Jihad without fighters, my Allah.”

Following are excerpts from the video, which was posted on the Internet on April 20, 2015.

Voice of Erdogan quoting from poem titled Du'a: We all have hoarse voices. Do not leave our minarets without the call to prayer, my Allah!

Take those who make honey, otherwise do not just leave us with no hive, my Allah!

Minarets without their mahya lights do not overshadow the Milky Way in our skies, my Allah!

Do not leave our homeland, whose soil was molded by Islam, without Muslims.

Give us strength!

Do not leave these fields of Jihad without fighters, my Allah.

Do not leave the masses who yearn for a hero with no hero, my Allah.

Let us know how to resist our foes.

Do not leave us lifeless, my Allah.

On the path to tomorrows, do not leave our years without Ramadhan, my Allah.

Disperse your herd, otherwise do not leave us without a shepherd, my Allah.

Do not leave us without love, water, air, or our country, my Allah!

Soldiers: At your service, my commander!

"Centennial of a Legend - we remember the martyrs and warriors of Gallipoli with blessings and gratitude..."
