On October 25, 2024, TRT Network (Turkey) aired an artificial intelligence-generated video depicting the last moments of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by Israel. The video features first-person narration in Sinwar’s voice, claiming he was injured during clashes he initiated with Israeli soldiers while patrolling the streets of Tel Al-Sultan in Rafah, seeking to “hunt down” Israeli forces. It further alleges that the soldiers shelled the house where Sinwar was hiding with a tank, labeling them as too “cowardly” to enter.
Narrator: "I am Yahya Sinwar, and I will give you the details of my last battle. At dawn of that day, I put on my vest and grabbed my gun. I put my prayer beads in my pocket and touched my pistol. Then I put on my scarf, and walked with two comrades in the streets of Tel Al-Sultan, in Rafah. We patrolled the streets, looking to hunt down soldiers of the Israeli occupation.
"Then we found what we were looking for – a group of soldiers. True, they were more than us, but this was a golden opportunity. We clashed with them, and my comrades fought valiantly. We killed a few of them, and I was seriously wounded in my arm. I got separated from my comrades. I entered one of the neighborhood homes.
"I picked up a stick and was leaning on it. I climbed to the second flood, and sat down on a couch. I looked around and found a piece of wire, which I wrapped around my severed arm, in an attempt to stop the bleeding. I heard the voices of the soldiers who were drawing near to the house, so I threw a grenade at them from the window.
"I thought that they would storm the house, but they sent a drone to check on me, so I threw the stick at it, and it disappeared. My scarf concealed my identity from them. I expected them to come to me by themselves, once they learned I was hurt and was covered with blood, but they were too cowardly to do that. They fired a shell from one of their tanks, lurking on our land, and I got what I had wished for a long time."
