On September 25, 2014, the hacktivist collective Anonymous launched a campaign against the Islamic State (IS or ISIS), calling its members gangsters who hijacked Islam. The campaign is known as Operation Ice ISIS and involves a social media campaign to raise awareness to the dangers posed by ISIS as well as cyber-attacks on countries that financially support ISIS, such as Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

A video posted by the group stated: "The Islamic State, as they call themselves, is very much like those of the Westboro Baptist Church, those who are affiliated with Anders Breivik, and very much like the KKK." (the video can be seen here)
