A few days ago, the Ansar Alkhelafa Europe (AKE) forum returned to normal function online following several weeks of inactivity. The absence, according to one of the forum's administrators, was due to a "sustained" DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack against the forum.
AKE replaced Ansar Al-Mujahideen English Forum (AMEF), a top English jihadi forum, last year. AKE appeals to English speakers, specifically European Muslims, and is dedicated to supporting the Islamic State (ISIS). "We have been under a sustained DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack from kuffar [unbelievers] in the past weeks," wrote Abdullatif, an AKE admin, on February 12.
He also reassured forum members that the "security of the site is strong," and that their accounts and personal information were not affected by the cyberattacks. However, he added that it was impossible to "completely safeguard" against DDoS attacks.
