On January 22, 2019, a Telegram channel that says it provides aid to those in need in Syria shared its Bitcoin address, to which donations could be sent. The channel posts content in English and German and highlights the plight of refugees in Syria while repeatedly calling for donations. On January 11, the channel reported on the efforts of Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) in bringing about the release of a British aid worker kidnapped in Syria.
