The Palestinian hacker group Gaza Hackers Team, which is known to have conducted malware campaigns dating back to 2012, launched another wave of such attacks in 2015. The attacks involved a phishing scam, in which users opened a file, believed to contain certain content, thereby allowing the hackers to install remote access tools on their computers. In this case, the file supposedly showed Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas cursing PA security chief General Majed Faraj.
According to Kaspersky Lab, these attacks focused on targets in Egypt, the UAE, and Yemen.
