On January 12, 2023, a user of the Rocket.Chat server operated by the Islamic State (ISIS) published a post calling on supporters to recognize the importance of understanding technology, arguing that learning to code is "essential" for the fight of ISIS and that cyberspace is the new frontier. He added that the military infrastructure of the infidels is becoming more technologically sophisticated, and that jihadis should invest their time researching and educating themselves in programming in order to combat it. Ending his post, the user offered to help others who need guidance, saying he is a developer himself.
In a second post, the user listed eight tops for those interested in learning to program, including an emphasis on practice, studying the code of open-source repositories, and learning security practices.
