Starting January 1, 2016, the Kazakhstan government will force all internet users in the country to install a backdoor, granting the government access to their data traffic. This would effectively enable the government to conduct large scale MITM (Man-in-the-Middle) attacks, intercepting any and all communication from internet users in the country.
Many security researchers in and out of Kazakhstan have criticized the decision, some dubbing it "stupid."
