On March 25, 2024, a pro-Islamic State (ISIS) info-sec Telegram channel published a post providing tips for supporters to avoid their accounts being banned by Telegram's algorithms. Among the tips are: To set multiple profile pictures, a username, first name, and last name; not message anyone for a week after creating an account, then have a friend send the account a message or send a message from another Telegram account by the same user; and use a residential VPN.
In another post, the group advised supporters to check the VPN connections they are using to make sure they have not been reported for suspicious activity.
