On June 22, 2017, it was reported that Qatar was accusing "neighboring countries" of hacking its state media and planting a fake news story that led to the diplomatic crisis in the Gulf region. Qatari Attorney-General Ali bin Fetais Al-Marri called the case "very clear" and said that the alleged hacking came from "countries responsible for the siege."
