During a press conference at the start of the Saudi International Conference on Information Technology, the president of Kind Abulaziz City for Sciences and Technology (KACST), Prince Turki bin Saud bin Muhammad, said that specialized censorship committees in the kingdom also monitor for attempted cyber-attacks against government bodies and private institution. He added that the committees monitor activity related both to financial attacks (such as ones related to money laundering) and to terrorism.
According to Turki, global losses due to cyber-attacks were estimated at some $445 billion annually, and that the cost is expected to rise unless steps are taking to expand monitoring and efforts to combat such attacks.
