On January 13, 2015, the official Twitter account for the Syrian Electronic Army (@Official_SEA16) posted a number of Tweets questioning the hacking of the Twitter and YouTube accounts of the U.S. Armed Forces Central Command (CENTCOM), which took place the previous day. The accounts were hacked by the pro-IS group CyberCaliphate, but the SEA questioned whether or not ISIS was actually involved: "We don't buy it. #IS scum aren't interested in hacktivism, only hacking people's heads off. Whoever hacked CENTCOM is pretending to be them. We have no plans to publish the documents obtained from #CENTCOM last year and we would never publish personal info of military people. #SEA"
The SEA also called the hacking a "False Flag" meant to bolster support the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA), which was recently reintroduced to congress.
