The prominent salafi jihadi cleric Abu Muhammad Al-Maqdisi has, for the first time, openly declared his backing for the Palestinian Jama'at Al-Tawhid Wa'l-Jihad (JTJ), one of the major salafi groups currently active in Gaza. While it was fairly clear that he was connected to JTJ from the outset, his statement is a shift in policy, indicating that he is no longer willing to downplay his support for JTJ for the sake of an elusive unity among the Gazan salafi factions....
