On September 5, 2024 the Abandon Harris '24 campaign was launched in North Carolina. Speakers at the campaign's press conference explained why they will not vote for VP Kamala Harris in the November elections. North Carolina Imam Abdallh said that Harris dehumanizes the Palestinians, "just like her boss Biden." Environmental activist Rania Masri said that Harris is a "white supremacist in black face." She added: "We dare to build an alternative to their [Democrat and Republican parties'] criminal policies. […] It begins with making sure that Kamala Harris loses the election in November."
The press conference was streamed live on the Facebook page of the North Carolina Green Party.
It is worth noting that Abdallh Khadra is the is president of the Madina Quran and Youth Center in Raleigh, NC, and the event was streamed live on his personal YouTube channel. In 2017, Khadra said in a Friday sermon that Jews distorted the facts about the Western Wall and invoked the hadith about the Muslims killing the Jews at the end of times. In another Friday sermon from the same year, he said that the Zionists seek to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and build their "fictitious" temple instead.
Rania Masri, the "co-director at the North Carolina Environmental Justice Network," previously supported the Palestinian armed struggle at a May 23, 2023 rally in Raleigh.
