Spokesman of the Iranian Armed Forces, Brigadier-General Abolfazl Shekarchi, said that Afghanistan must not fall again into the lap of the U.S., U.K., and the "Zionist entity." He made his remarks in an interview that aired on Al-Alam TV (Iran) on September 8, 2021. Shekarchi went on to say that the U.S., the "number-one enemy of the Iranian people" brought its "guard dog," the "Zionist entity," to the region, and "from time to time this dog barks." He added that Israel does not have the courage or the capability to attack Iran, however, he said, if it "perpetrates any strategic mistake, it will be slapped in the face."
Shekarchi also said that Iran has not changed its position regarding the "Zionist entity," which is that Israel must be removed, eliminated, and annihilated. Regarding Iran, Shekarchi said that sending the Iranian warship IRINS Makran to the Atlantic Ocean was a show of force. He said that Iran sent it in order to confront all the schemes of the U.S. and its allies in the region.
Abolfazl Shekarchi: "Afghanistan was fed up with the American presence. They were ready to save themselves from the Americans. So when the Taliban returned to Afghanistan, the people welcomed them with open arms. What the Islamic Republic expects from Afghanistan is that any government that will be established there will be an inclusive popular government that will provide security to Afghanistan and its people. All the Jihadi forces and political movements should be part of that government. This government must not fall again into the lap of the U.S., England, and the Zionist entity. It must not be enticed by the offers of Saudi Arabia.

"I would like to reiterate the words of the Leader of the Revolution. We believe that the Zionist entity is the dog guarding America, while America is the number one enemy of the Iranian people. It has brought its guard dog – the Zionist entity – to this region. From time to time, this dog barks."

Shekarchi: "It's not that they don't have the courage. They don't have the capability."
Interviewer: "So they have neither the capability nor the courage, and therefore, what do you have to say to this entity, which presents these positions from time to time?"
Shekarchi: "We say to this artificial founding, to this Zionist regime, that if it perpetrates any strategic mistake, it will be slapped in the face, and it will not be able to recover from this. Out strategy towards the Zionist entity never changes – the removal of the Zionist entity. Israel must be eliminated.

"We have a strategy that was formulated by Imam Khomeini following the defeat of the Shah's regime and the triumph of the Islamic Revolution. [Khomeini] said that Israel must be eliminated. We have not fallen back, nor will we fall back, a single step from this strategy. The strategy of the resistance front is the annihilation of the Zionist entity, and the elimination of this founding regime.

"[Sending IRINS Makran to the Atlantic Ocean] constituted a flexing of muscles, a show of force. This is the first time that Iranian ships have sailed for more than 40,000 kilometers. This act is meant to bring peace and security to the international waters, and to protect [trade] in international waters. We have invested all our efforts to guarantee security and peace. We have confronted the pirates who attack the ships of the Islamic Republic from time to time, as well as other ships that come to this region. This is in contrast to what America is doing. America's sailors oppose the security of the region. The sailors of the Islamic Republic are trying to provide security and peace in the region. Iran is proud of sending the Makran warship, in order to confront all the schemes of America and its allies in the region."
