Source: Al-Alam Network (Iran)

Following are excerpts from an interview with Iranian Deputy Chief of Staff Masoud Jazayeri, which aired on Al-Alam TV on June 29, 2014:

Masoud Jazayri: Personally, I believe that terrorism is strongly connect to the U.S. administration, as part of its compliance with the demands by the Zionist Entity, in the short, medium, and long terms. Unfortunately, some European countries, and some of America's lackeys in the region, play a role in this.

Interviewer: But the U.S. claims that it supports Iraq in its confrontation with the ISIS terrorists, and has never offered its help. Additionally, John Kerry visited Baghdad.

Masoud Jazayri: All the evidence shows that the U.S. heads terrorism in the region. We witnessed this in Lebanon, it was very clear with regard to the Gaza Strip, as well as in Afghanistan, and now it can undoubtedly, be seen in Syria. As you know, the war of terrorism here is a proxy war waged by the U.S., and the same holds true for Iraq.

This [proxy war] is implemented by the countries in the region.

Interviewer: Do you mean Saudi Arabia, for example?

Masoud Jazayri: Yes, Saudi Arabia among others.

Should the Iraqi government, or the Iraqi people, feel that the current conditions necessitate it, the Islamic Republic will definitely help them.

With regard to Syria, we have already declared that we would not allow foreign intervention, and would not allow terrorists connected with foreign intelligence agencies to rule Syria or control it. We will not allow such a thing, which is contrary to the Syrian people's will, which was revealed in the elections held a few weeks ago. We will apply the same principle to Iraq. Countries and individuals with unbridled ambitions cannot simply show up and draw a map for the region.
