Deputy Speaker of Libyan Parliament Ahmad Ibrahim: Demand to Release Bulgarian Nurses - Racism

#1500 | 01:00
Source: Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar)

Following are excerpts from an address by Ahmad Ibrahim, deputy speaker of the Libyan parliament, which aired on Al-Jazeera TV on June 28, 2007.

Ahmad Ibrahim: People who profess concern for human rights, for freedom and for equality among human beings should have shown concern about the tragedy of hundreds of innocent Libyan children, who were injected intentionally with a dangerous disease, a dangerous virus, which has spread to their families, and caused a catastrophe and tragedy of historic proportions, as far as those families and the Libyan people are concerned. Instead, they show concern for five nurses, just because they have white skin and blue eyes. This position is racist culturally debased, and has nothing to with humanism, human rights, or civilization. Even savage, barbaric, and primitive tribes would be ashamed of such a position.
