Imran Salha, the imam of the Islamic Center of Detroit spoke at a "Gaza Endures Rally" organized by the Michigan Taskforce for Palestine on December 19, 2023, saying that "Zionism is as blasphemous to Judaism as terrorism is blasphemous to Islam." He stated that Israel is anathema to godliness and claimed that Muslims, Jews, and Christians lived in peace throughout history "until a bunch of people who have nothing to do with the Jewish religion" had an “ego trip, and they said: 'We want to take power.'" Salha said: "You Will never take Palestine." The keynote speaker at the event was U.S. presidential candidate Cornel West. Video footage of the event was posted on DearbornOn on YouTube.
Imran Salha: "My prayer should make me more furious with murder. My prayer should make me more infuriated by seeing injustice and oppression all around the world, and this is why it is such a silly claim to start the conversation from October 7. You owe us 75 years of condemnation. And how many October 7s have you allowed to occur to the Palestinians without a single word? Your silence is deafening.

"The concept of Israel is anathema to godliness. Muslims, Jews, and Christians lived in peace all throughout history, until a group of people who have nothing to do with the religion of Judaism... They had an ego trip and they said: 'We want to take power.' And I will say it: Zionism is as blasphemous to Judaism, as terrorism is blasphemous to Islam.

"You will not take it. And I will say: 'By Allah, even if you were to stand on the eyelashes of your eyes, you will not take it.' You will never take Palestine. I leave you with a poem written by a Saudi poet, who said:

"'Do you think that when you murdered me and you danced upon my grave like a devil, do you think that when you blew my house to smithereens – it harmed me? Those smithereens are mascara for the eyes of the sun that witnessed your oppression. Do you think that you erased my identity? Do you think that you erased my history? All of your efforts are in vain, and your presence is so repugnant. My return is ever so imminent, I am the Day of Judgment.'"
