The following are excerpts from an interview with Egyptian advisor to U.N. organizations Dr. Shahida Al-Baz. Iqra TV aired the interview on February 10, 2005:
Dr. Shahida Al-Baz: How does such a large quantity of drugs enter [Egypt]? How is it used and distributed? After all, drugs are widespread throughout the world, but I think that in Egypt there has been a significant leap in the past 20 years.
Interviewer: What do you mean?
Dr. Shahida Al-Baz: Oh, you want me to say it bluntly.
Interviewer: Yes, what do you mean by a significant leap?,/p>
Dr. Shahida Al-Baz: This is a new situation we are not familiar with yet. The spread of drugs has created a whole new situation.
Although some people say this is a conspiracy theory, it is not. The reality is that we have an enemy. There is an enemy. Israel serves as a channel for drugs. Israel profits from this financially, and at the same time corrupts our youth.
