Egyptian-German scholar Hamed Abdel-Samad said in a video that was uploaded to the Internet on March 3, 2019 that conservative narrow-minded Islam with a touch of Salafism and Muslim Brotherhood ideology shares a peculiar alliance with Turkish nationalism and pro-Erdoğan sentiment in European cities like Berlin, Malmö, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Aarhus. He said that these people live off of Western social security benefits while at the same time saying that Erdoğan will crush the West. Abdel-Samad said: "Why don't you go get social benefits from [Erdoğan]?" He said that fundamentalist Islam and Turkish nationalism is also allied with criminal gangs such that religious Muslims tell women to dress modestly and get upset when people criticize Islam or the Prophet Muhammad while simultaneously having no problem that their friends are dealing in Islamically forbidden things like drugs and prostitutes.
Hamed Abdel-Samad: There is an alliance that you see in Berlin, as well as in Sweden – in Malmö and in Stockholm – and in Copenhagen and Aarhus. It is an alliance between conservative, narrow-minded Islam – with a touch of Salafism and Muslim Brotherhood ideology – with Turkish nationalism and pro-Erdoğan slogans. They live off of social security benefits in the West, and they tell you that Erdoğan will crush the West. If you like Erdoğan so much, why don’t you go get social benefits from him? They live off of social security in the West, and they tell you that Erdoğan will crush the West. There is an alliance between fundamentalist Islam, Turkish nationalism, and criminal gangs that deal in drugs and prostitution. This is so peculiar! When a religious Muslim sees a girl in the street wearing jeans, he says: “Dress modestly, girl!” But his criminal friend is dealing with prostitutes in his neighborhood and dealing in things that are totally forbidden in Islam – and he has no problem with that whatsoever. Yet they have a problem with anyone who dares to criticize Muhammad or Islam. Where do you get your money from? Either from the state or by dealing with drugs and prostitutes.
