Russian philosopher Aleksandr Dugin said that he was disgusted by the Islamic response to Israel's war against Hamas and Hizbullah. "Where is Islamic solidarity? Where is the Islamic world?", he asked, saying that only "a small population of brave Houthis" demonstrated the "Islamic warrior spirit."
Speaking on the Hira podcast, posted on YouTube on February 3, 2025, Dugin said that he was "depressed and disappointed" by the "pitiful reaction from Turkey and other Islamic countries." He slammed what he called the "huge defeat of the Islamic world before the globalist liberal West and Israel," and said that mainstream Islam is composed of different opportunistic and corrupt regimes. He further said that while Salafis could kill and torture innocent women and children, when it comes to the fight against Israel or the West, "they are like domestic pets. They are kittens."

Aleksandr Dugin: "Why has everybody in the Shia world and in the Sunni world just regarded and contemplated what has happened – once with Gaza, and the second [time] with Lebanon and Hizbullah? Nobody reacted. That was a great wonder. Where is Islamic Solidarity? Where is the Islamic world?
"It is just different opportunistic regimes. Nothing is the Islamic nation, nothing is Islamic solidarity. Nothing at all. Iran has exchanged some hits, some blows, with Israel, with zero results... (There was) a real result, but it seems that nothing was seriously damaged – in Israel, at least. In Iran we really don't know. And only the Houthis of Yemen demonstrated the real will and real capacity to stand strong for the case of global Islam. Only a small population of brave Houthis really demonstrated what Islamic warrior spirit is and should be – but nobody else. That was a very sad discovery for myself, as I had great consideration (for) the Islamic world. I'm always advocating to create a kind of Islamic civilization state, but I was very deeply depressed and disappointed, contemplating and observing such a pitiful reaction from Turkey, from other Islamic countries.

"Turkey, Sunnis, and Salafis have made a gift to Israel by overthrowing Assad and getting Shiite militia out of Syria. All that was a huge betrayal, huge treason, of the Islamic cause – in such proportions that I could not understand anything anymore in the Islamic world.
"So there are very dispersed, very weak, and very corrupt regimes representing the Islamic world, not capable of any kind of solidarity. So everybody has betrayed the Islamic cause (to give) a prize to Israel, to the global West. So I am absolutely disappointed by that situation. Israel has won. The United States have won. The Western globalist hegemony anti-Islamic forces on the global scale have won... It seems that they won, and nobody seriously protests this.

"I see the huge humiliation of Muslims. I see very big failure of resistance.

"If we compare where we were and where we are with resistance, it is a failure. It is a very deep and very sad failure of us. It is not... I don't accuse anybody. I recognize the failure. Defeat is defeat. Failure is failure. When we have defeat, we should not call it a victory. It is not victory. It is defeat.

"(It is) a huge defeat of the Islamic world in front of the globalist collective, the globalist West – the liberal West and Israel.

"(Hamas and the Houthis) are examples of how Islam should be. But how Islam is – it is pitiful, depressing, and disappointing. It is a very big and very cowardly position. The Salafis could kill and torture innocent people. They could (commit) violence against innocent and helpless women and children, and civilian population. But when there is the perspective of a fight with Israel or the West, they are like domestic pets. They are kittens. That is absolutely disgusting, I think. I could not overcome this feeling of deep disgust for the behavior of the mainstream Islamic powers.

"What we have is absolutely not enough to fight against Israel. Islam will be a real power on the global scale when it can resist the global West and destroy Israel. Before that, there is no Islam. It is just dispersed groups of some business and political dealers, always making some deals with the West. It is not the great power."
