Exiled Egyptian Islamist Wagdi Ghoneim, who is currently based in Turkey, said in a video that was uploaded to his YouTube channel on September 18, 2020 that all Muslims should boycott Netflix and cancel any subscriptions, because it is a “prostitute of a channel” that preaches “total liberation” and that people should be free from prohibitions and restrictions. He also said that Netflix promotes homosexuality, adultery, heresy, and drug use. Wagdi Ghoneim: "Boycott Netflix, immediately, which is a criminal, sinner, prostitute of a channel. Netflix is a satellite channel [sic] that has many subscribers, unfortunately. Maybe they are not aware [of its nature] when they pay the subscription fee. It is true that this fee is a small sum, but a little and a little and a little adds up to lot for [Netflix]. This criminal channel preaches something called 'lifestyle.' Lifestyle means a new way of life.

"What's new about it? Freeing yourself of all restrictions. In other words, it means that there is no such thing as Halal and Haram. Do whatever you want and as you please. What is this? It is heresy. This channel allows all the things that are Haram: Homosexuality, lesbianism, adultery, hashish, heresy...

And I'm not talking about all [the shows] that display sexual relations, adultery... There are things that you cannot even imagine. So, what is expected from us? We should boycott these channels and not subscribe to them. Anyone who is already subscribed, should cancel his subscription immediately!"
