The following are excerpts from an interview with Egyptian MP Murtada Mansour, which aired on Dream 2 TV on July 26, 2005.
Host: Are you for or against international supervision of the elections?
Mansour: I'm against it.
Host: Why?
Mansour: It is like having guardianship over Egypt and its free will. I say the supervision committee should consist of Egyptians. Am I supposed to bring America and this woman called Condalalis... Co... This Cola Bottle... They say we are against America, but when they bring that skinny-legged woman, they all sit in front of her like children. What elections do you want her to supervise? When America, the country of freedom and democracy...
Host: Setting aside Condoleezza Rice...
Mansour: Conda-what? This Condoleezza... Listen there are people who go to the American embassy, and get dollars. Their job is to send reports.
Host: What does this have to do with elections supervision?
Mansour: Why should they supervise me? Did I supervise Bush? Did I supervise Bush? Bush forged his elections against Al Gore.
Host: In the American elections, there are international committees that supervise the elections.
Mansour: No, they're American committees.
Host: They're international. What about the Palestinian elections?
Mansour: Palestine is under occupation. Am I under occupation? I am a free country, thousands of years older than America.
Host: I mean to say that the opinion...
Mansour: You want the guardianship of the occupation to return? Who is this America? This is the same America that strikes Iraq every day, kills Iraqis, and occupies Iraq.
Host: You reject...
Mansour: I reject America to begin with. And I reject that bully called Bush. He bullies the entire world. He speaks of democracy, but when you land in the Washington or New York airport, he arrests you and puts you in this Guatemala (sic) of his.
