Egyptian political activist Wael Ghonim posted a video on his YouTube channel on November 10, 2023, calling on Hamas leaders who have come to Cairo from Qatar and Istanbul to go to Gaza and wage Jihad. He said that Gaza is not far from Cairo and offered to guide Khaled Mashal, Ismail Haniyeh, and Khalil Al-Hayyah through the tunnels to Gaza, and added: "If you are real men, go into Gaza." Ghonim asked whether the Prophet Muhammad and his Companions would hide out in a hotel in Qatar or fight in a trench. He asked whether the Prophet would hide in a tunnel "while the common people are being killed above ground," like Yahya Sinwar is doing. Ghonim mocked Hudhaifa Kahlout, the spokesman of Hamas's Al-Qassam Brigade for using the pseudonym "Abu Ubaida" and covering his face with a mask, while people in Gaza and Israel know full well who he is.
Wael Ghonim: "I want to appeal brother Khaled Mashal and brother Ismail Haniyeh. I hear that they – along with Khalil All-Hayyah or whatever his name is – are in Cairo now. I want to say to them: 'You guys are coming from Qatar or Istanbul, and I hope you had a good flight, that you flew business class, and had a nice meal, on your way to Egypt to defend the cause and all the achievements. I have an idea. I say to brothers Ismail Haniyeh, Khalil Al-Hayyah, and Khaled Mashal: 'You are now in Cairo, which is very close to Gaza. The Israelis would have no problem if you saluted the steadfastness of the Palestinians from within Gaza. Brothers Khaled Mashal and Ismail Haniyeh, you are the heroes of this war. You are the great and unparalleled leaders of the resistance. They appear on TV from Qatar, after they had a fat hamburger, and salute the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, while a woman is walking in the street [in Gaza], screaming because she has no bread, and does not understand why her world is silent. I suggest that brothers Khaled Mashal, Ismail Haniyeh, and Khalil Al-Hayyah, go [to Gaza] through a tunnel. I will show you the way to Gaza so you can wage Jihad.
