During a January 5, 2024 Friday sermon at Baab-Ul-Ilm, a Shi'ite mosque in Leeds, UK, Jaffer Ladak said that the influence of IRGC Qods Force commander General Qasem Soleimani on the Palestinian resistance cannot be "neglected." He said that under the influence of the Wahhabis and the lack of influence from Shiite scholars, the Palestinian resistance had the practice of suicide bombings at cafés and buses. Ladak said that suicide bombings do not have "the flavor of Islamic resistance," do not yield the goals, and they drew the ire of the world. He said that when Soleimani entered the picture, the structure of the Palestinian resistance was overhauled, tunnels were dug, and the relationship with "the rest of the Islamic world," particularly in Lebanon and Iran, flourished. Ladak added that "his eminence imam al-mujahid Ali Khamenei" has said that Soleimani filled the Palestinian hands, not with bread but the means of resistance. The sermon was streamed live on the mosque's YouTube channel.
Jaffar Ladak: "The influence of people like martyr Qasem Soleimani on the Palestinian resistance as a historical fact, cannot be misunderstood and neglected. Those of you who are a little bit older will remember that there was a time when the Palestinian resistance took on the practice of suicide bombings and bombing random cafes as part of its resistance. You'll remember many a time that they would bomb buses, that they would bomb cafes. This was, a: an influence of Wahabism upon the Palestinian resistance, and 2: a lack of influence by the Shia scholars on the techniques of Islamic resistance.
"You've all heard of that famous leader, Wahabi leader terrorist by the name of Ayman Zarqawi [sic]. Ayman Zarqawi was the one who began the idea of suicide bombings and then, he used this influence upon the Palestinians who then felt it was needful to be able to do suicide bombings in the occupied territories. Suicide bombings, of course, not only has a great ishqal and problem with it, it is not with the flavor of Islamic resistance. It doesn't yield the goals, and also drew the ire of the world community on the Palestinian resistance.
"Enter people like martyr Qasem Soleimani. And, with his influence, you would actually see that the structure of the Palestinian resistance was overhauled. The tunnels that were being tug, and its relationship with the rest of the Islamic world, particularly those in Lebanon, particularly those in Iran, flourished, to such an extent that now, the so-called strongest army in West Asia still cannot defeat those people who have been starved for more than three months.
"His Eminence Imam Mujahid Ali Khamenei, may Allah preserve him for us, has a famous statement when talking about General Soleimani. He says, and I quote, 'This man filled the Palestinian hands.' This man filled the Palestinian hands, and you can finish off the sentence for yourself as to what he filled their hand with. Did he fill it with bread? No? He filled it with the means to be able to resist the occupation.

"An important part of our culture is to be able to remember those people who have been massacred. Is to be able to remember those people who have been martyred, and not to shy away from that just because it has not become popularized in this country, or that other people may fear the idea of talking about our Shuhada. Our Shuhada, our honor, our Shuhada, our honor. And for us, we hope that we follow them in that way, and that Allah raises us to such a lofty station."
