Zaher Jabareen, a member of the Hamas political bureau, eulogized Hamas political bureau deputy chairman Saleh Al-Arouri at his funeral, which was broadcast on Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) on January 4, 2024. He said that it was Al-Arouri who founded Hamas¢s military wing Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades in the West Bank, and "gave the occupation a taste of sudden death." Jabareen continued to say that it was Al-Arouri who taught Hamas that the occupation only understands the language of the gun, fighting, and Jihad. Saleh Al-Arouri was killed in Beirut, Lebanon, by a strike attributed to Israel on January 2, 2024.
Zaher Jabareen: "Let us listen to a short speech by brother Zaher Jabareen, 'Abu Islam,' who is a relative of the martyr, Al-Arouri. Just this speech, for a couple of minutes, and then we will have the funeral prayer. Blessed be Allah, who bestowed upon me the honor of knowing the martyred leader, who founded the Martyr Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, in the West Bank, [in the days of] Al-'Ayyash, the West Bank of heroes and sacrifice, the West Bank that gave rise to the martyrdom seekers, and gave the occupation a taste of sudden death.
"It was you who taught us that the occupation understands only one language, and that it would not leave our land, our Jerusalem, and our holy places, unless [we follow] one path only—the path of the gun, fighting, and Jihad.
"Yesterday, the head of the Mossad threatened Hamas and the Palestinians, by saying, 'Read the history of the Munich operations'—when they decided to assassinate anyone who played a role in the Munich operation. Indeed, you are a criminal, unjust, oppressive, and tyrannical country. You are supported by the entire criminal world: the U.S. that supplies you with weapons, France, Britain, and all those who try to transform this battle to anything rather than a battle against the Zionist occupation of our people, who must be liberated, regardless of how much time and sacrifices it will require."
