In his November 29, 2024 address that was broadcast on Al-Araby TV (Qatar), along with numerous other media outlets, Hizbullah Secretary-General Naim Qassem declared the recent war with Israel a "great victory," surpassing even the 2006 conflict. Qassem highlighted that Hizbullah's success lay in preventing Israel from destroying the resistance, asserting, "We defeated the enemy." This statement follows Qassem's recent appointment as secretary-general, after the assassinations of Hassan Nasrallah and Hashem Safieddine.
Naim Qassem: "I have decided to declare, in an official and clear manner, that the result of the 'Formidable in Might' war is a great victory that surpasses the victory of July 2006, due to its length, the ferocity of the fighting, and the great sacrifices. In addition, there were legions of enemies, which received full support from America and the West.
"Despite all that, the resistance fighters managed to stand their ground, and to accomplish this achievement. We have won because we prevented the enemy from destroying Hizbullah. We have won because we prevented it from finishing off the resistance, or to weaken it to a point where it could not operate. We defeated the enemy because Netanyahu was forced to justify the agreement and persuade the Israelis. He said that the second reason for the agreement was that he wanted to repair his army and replenish its weapons. He admits that they were weakened and defeated in this war."
