IRGC Commander-in-Chief General Hossein Salami said in a November 2, 2022 interview on IRINN TV (Iran) that Iran's enemies are using mass media and "the virtual space" to lead Iran's youth astray and to use them to implement nefarious goals. He said that these means are "weapons of mass destruction" and he compared them to the bombing of Hiroshima Nagasaki. In addition, he called on Iran's youth to understand that "the virtual space" has become a "graveyard" for them.
Hossein Salami: "The enemy is using the tools of mass media and virtual space as WMD. Instead of the atomic bombs that were used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, where hundreds of thousands of innocent people were burned, [the enemy] is exploiting the virtual space. Like our Leader [Khamenei] said: 'This has become a graveyard for our youth.' I'm asking our youth, if they hear me, to understand this fact. It is our enemy's intention to derail our youth from the right path, to deny them of their religious zeal, national and religious identity, and to recruit them to implement the enemy's goals."
