On May 13, 2019, Fars News Agency (Iran) aired a video in which Iranian Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of the IRGC Navy, said that there is nothing out of the ordinary about the presence of the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Persian Gulf, and that if the enemy “makes any mistake,” Iran is ready to confront it and “hit all the American installations in the area.” He said that the U.S. was afraid that Iran would attack its ships and explained that the war with America is psychological, and will not turn into a real war. Tangsiri encouraged the Iranian public to be calm and said that America just wants to exert pressure on Iran in order to have negotiations. He added: “We will overcome this, too, with our heads held high.”
Following are excerpts:
Admiral Alireza Tangsiri: The Abraham Lincoln ship has come to the Persian Gulf and gone many times. There is nothing out of the ordinary about it.

We are fully prepared, and if the enemy makes any mistake, we can, in the first stage, hit all the American installations in the area. Surely, the enemy will not make such a mistake.

They thought that we wanted to attack their ships. Their fear stems from this. Our enemies should know that the soldiers and young people of this country are ready to confront them. Our public should be calm and know that the enemy cannot do anything. This war is a psychological war. As the Leader said, there will be no war. They just want to exert pressure in order to have negotiations. But negotiations that will benefit them and harm us will never happen, Allah willing. We will overcome this, too, with our head held high.
