In a November 27, 2024, press conference aired on IRINN TV (Iran), Iranian Majles Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf emphasized the strong strategic ties between Iran and China. He described China as both a friend and an ally, highlighting the depth of their bilateral relations. Ghalibaf stressed that Iran and China share mutual interests, including common friends and enemies. He further outlined that their partnership spans a wide range of areas, including economic, cultural, social, political, security, and defense issues, underscoring the importance of expanding these ties.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf: "China is undoubtedly one of our friends, allies. It is close to us. We have deep strategic relations with China that we should expand more. This is the natural will of all our countries’ officials. How do deep strategic relations develop? They develop between countries that have mutual friends, enemies, and interests. We share all three with China. We have mutual friends, enemies, and interests. Our relations are undoubtedly strategic, enduring, and influential, in the bilateral sense, the regional sense, and the international sense, as well as in other strategic issues, such as the environment, economic issues, cultural issues, social issues, political issues, security issues, and defense issues.

"Today, we have greater opportunities on the horizon with China. Today, our geo-political position vis-a-vis China is very crucial, in terms of economy and corridors that could take shape. Also there are opportunities through organizations like BRICS and Shanghai…Also directly and indirectly in Eurasia…In my opinion, this is the firm decision and will of both countries, although, in my opinion, we have not reached that level of relations yet. We believe that we should build the basis of these relations."
