Lebanese MP Razi El-Hage: Hizbullah Uses Lebanese Civilians As Human Shields For Its Commanders And Weapons; It Should Keep Its People Away From Civilian Areas, Ambulances, And Health Facilities

On October 15, 2024, Lebanese MP Razi El-Hage urged Prime Minister Najib Mikati and the Lebanese government to ensure that Hizbullah personnel do not use civilians as human shields. In an interview with Al-Mashhad TV (UAE), he highlighted that Hizbullah military commanders often position themselves among civilians in safe areas, putting those civilians at risk. During an appearance on MTV (Lebanon), El-Hage stated that this behavior has contributed to the massacre of 22 individuals in Aytoo.

Razi El-Hage: "There are some Hizbullah military commanders who are present among the civilians and in the safe areas. This is causing significant suspicion and the fear that safe areas and buildings inhabited by civilians will be bombed because of the presence of these military [commanders].

"As a Lebanese MP, I am calling on the government, and the PM specifically, to contact Hizbullah, which is part of this government and has members in it, [and tell] them to keep their military personnel away from the civilians, and refrain from using ambulances or any health [facilities] in their military operations because they are exposing civilians to serious danger.

"Lebanon is protected by policy, diplomacy, and serious efforts to build an efficient state. Lebanon is not protected by a mini-state that nests in is midst, plants bombs and missiles under people's homes, turns all the civilians into human shields, in the service of an [Iranian] agenda, that  has done nothing for the Palestinian cause or for Lebanon. [The government] needs to make sure that Hizbullah military personnel are not using civilians as human shields.

"Yesterday, we witnessed a massacre in Aytoo, where 22 people were martyred, because a [Hizbullah] miliary commander was among them."
