Omer Nashabe, a Lebanese criminal justice expert, weighed in on the attacks against Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam during a November 8, 2024 appearance on Al-Mayadeen TV (Lebanon). Nashabe speculated that the attacks might have been orchestrated by Israeli intelligence agencies, suggesting they were staged to influence the ongoing proceedings at the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice in nearby The Hague. He noted the attacks occurred just a short train ride from these key judicial institutions, raising questions about their potential strategic timing.
Omer Nashabe: “I suspect that these [attacks in Amsterdam] were pre-planned [by Israel]. First, I would like to note that these incidents took place a half-hour train ride from the International Criminal Court in the Hague. The International Court of Justice is also in the Hague, which is a half-hour train ride from Amsterdam. My concern is that the Israelis wanted to make up this problem, because they are aware that their situation in these courts is not great. They take all the possible measures to foil the ICC and ICJ.

“I have suspicions that the clashes that took place yesterday were fabricated by Israeli intelligence, or that they were used by the government of the Israeli enemy, in order to be able to say: We are subjected to killings and beatings by the Muslims in Europe, and therefore, you need to protect us and give us special privileges, so that we can protect ourselves.”
