Senior Hamas Official Mahmoud Al-Zahar: An International Islamic Court Should Be Established To Try Offenders Against Islam Like Those Who Recently Burned The Quran

In a January 23, 2023 show on Al-Masirah TV (Houthis-Yemen), senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahar suggested that an "international Islamic court" should be established in order to adjudicate offenses against Islam, such as recent Quran-burnings in the West. He said that this could also serve as a deterrent against similar actions in the future.

Mahmoud Al-Zahar: "I suggest establishing an international Islamic court with the participation of all the judges in the Arab, Islamic, and Western world.

"[This court] could confront the crimes that are being committed against Islam and the Muslims, and especially against our Prophet Muhammad, the Quran, and even Allah Himself.

[...]

"This way we could draw a line that would deter every criminal. If we would place that criminal who burnt the Holy Quran on trial and issue the verdict that he deserves — execution or another punishment — that would serve as a deterrent. This would be supported by the judges, the tribunals, as well as the nations."
