Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, who also serves as the Deputy Minister for Information and Culture, said in a January 3, 2022 radio show on Azadi Radio (Afghanistan) that Afghanistan's military under the Taliban will include "martyrdom-seeking battalions" in its special forces.

Zabihullah Mujahid: "Our mujahideen in the martyrdom-seeking battalions will be part of the army. They would be special forces and organized under the Ministry of Defense. The special forces will be established in specific numbers, and will be used for special operations."
