UAE Federal Council Member Dirar Belhoul Al-Falasi: Hamas Launched Missiles From A Hospital We Built For The Needy In Gaza; Palestinian Authority Leaders Behaved Like Small-Time Peddlers

Dirar Belhoul Al-Falasi, a member of the UAE's Federal National Council, said in an October 13, 2020 interview on Diwan Al-Mulla Online TV (Kuwait) that the UAE can live in peaceful coexistence with everyone. Blaming the IRGC's Qods Force for the tragedies throughout the Middle East, he explained that the UAE is interested only in peace and the prosperity of its people, and that it does not care what Iran or Turkey think about its normalization with Israel. In addition, Al-Falasi argued that the Palestinian leaders are "small-time hucksters who peddle in the Palestinian cause." He added that it is time for the "mercenaries" who profit from the Palestinian cause to step aside and leave the floor to a younger, peace-minded generation. Furthermore, he said that negotiations will achieve more than war, and he predicted that other countries will soon follow suit and normalize relations with Israel. He also predicted that the Palestinian Authority will eventually be forced to sign a peace agreement with Israel whether it likes it or not.

Dirar Belhoul Al-Falasi: "The UAE gives to the needy, not to the Palestinian Authority or Hamas. They are no longer being factored in. We give only to those in need. The best example is what happened during the pandemic, the UAE sent them aid, but [their leaders] refused to accept it. This is because they don't care about ordinary Palestinians. They only care about their own interests. If these commodities got in [directly], they wouldn't be able to get their hands on them, and they wouldn't be able to trade in them. They are small-time peddlers. The best example is Mahmoud Abbas. When he came here a few years ago, he came with his son. If anyone asked him for a business card, he said he had agents or whatever... Are you here for the Palestinians or to promote your companies? They are all small-time hucksters who peddle in the Palestinian cause.

"One would expect the Qods Force to March towards Jerusalem. But where does it go? To Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen. All the tragedies [in those places] are because of the Qods Force, which has lost the way to Jerusalem, and has turned the other way and started harming us. No one – neither the Iranian President nor the Turkish President – has the right to interfere in a sovereign decision of the UAE. The decision [to normalize with Israel] concerns the UAE alone. We are the ones who decide. We are looking after our own interests, and we do not care what they are saying.

"What do you think we should focus on? On our people's interests and their development, and about living in security and peace, or about 70 years of wars that have not benefitted us in any way? On the contrary, for 70 years we have been losing time and again. It should be noted that our only success was achieved by the late President Anwar Sadat. He did go to wars. That's true. But what did he get from these wars? 10 square kilometers? On the other hand, by means of negotiations and peace, he regained Sinai in its entirety, including Taba. Sinai equals 2.5 times the size of Palestine.

"People from the Red Crescent told us that they built a hospital [in Gaza], and they were surprised when... This hospital was for treating Palestinians. People from Hamas fired a rocket from the hospital's roof, so that Israel would bomb this hospital. Just see how low they can go...

"We are the country of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. We can coexist with everyone. Through peaceful coexistence, peace will be achieved. I believe that peace is inevitable. As for the mercenaries and those who profit from the Palestinian cause, I believe that the time has come for them to step aside, and to leave the floor to the younger generation that wants to live in peace after 70 years of wars, disasters, and pain."
