In a recent TV interview, Turkey-Based Egyptian Islamist Sheikh Wagdi Ghoneim said: "We coexist with non-Muslims in our countries, on condition that we have the upper hand." Ghoneim, who is living in exile in Turkey, further said that "if the infidels fight us, we shall kill them... and if an infidel's wife comes with him and joins the fighting, we shall take her as a slave girl." In the case of "brothers in Islam who have oppressed us... we cannot take their wives as slaves, because they are our sisters in Islam," he said. Ghoneim was speaking on the Libyan Al-Nabaa TV channel on February 26.

Wagdi Ghoneim: Islam is the religion of peace, the religion of love. Islam is the religion of peace.

We coexist with non-Muslims in our countries, on condition that we have the upper hand.

We are not supposed to kill them just because they are non-Muslims. No! They may live alongside us. We coexist with the cats in the streets, and I don't wish to imply that they are cats. My point is that we coexist, so long as we have the upper hand. But when you attack me, you are considered an "assaulting enemy." This is an assault. You have come to kill me, to attack the honor of my womenfolk, to attack my home. In such a case, you are considered "an assaulting enemy." Islam says that an assaulting enemy must be fended off. It is necessary, vital, essential, and crucial for men to set out [on Jihad], and for women to do so, even without their husbands' consent.

If the infidels fight us, we shall kill them, and if they flee, we shall pursue them and finish them off if we find them. Alternatively, we can take them prisoner, and so on and so forth. If an infidel's wife comes with him and joins the fighting, we shall take her as a slave girl. This is in the case of infidels. But when we fight our brothers in Islam who have oppressed us - if they flee, we must not pursue them. We must not run after them. Moreover, if we kill them, we must perform ablution of their bodies, cover them in shrouds, and pray for their souls. In addition, we cannot take their wives as slaves, because they are our sisters in Islam.

Today, America, the Crusader West, the Shiite Iran, the infidel atheist Russia, and the Jews pay money and provide aid to those heretics so that they fight us Muslims. They know that we follow the path of Truth while they follow the path of Falsehood. So these people are heretics. They are not Muslims.

interviewer: Are the rebels in western [Libya] supposed to let the so-called Islamic State organization sanction the killing of their sons and take their women captive?
Wagdi Ghoneim: Absolutely not! Nobody may take our women captive or attack us. We are men! We defend ourselves! "If anyone attacks you, attack him in a similar way." Nobody may attack us. Why would you attack me? I am a Muslim, and I say so clearly. You say you are Muslim too. What Muslim attacks and kills another Muslim?! You should reexamine your conduct, oh you who claim to be Muslims. Do not fight Muslims. Fight the infidels. Go to the infidels and fight them. Go to the infidels and fight them. You come to me, your brother in Islam... Even if I am wrong, brother... Allah be praised, we've declared, just like you, the implemention of the shari'a. There are no anti-Islamic laws, or laws that contradict the shari'a... We should all unite and join hands.
