On September 22, 2024, the 'Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, published a post calling for donations and directing donors to contact an email address, warning that responses to emails sent to the account may be automatically sent to spam or junk mail. The group stressed: "There are no other methods or electronic channels to donate to the brigades."
On August 28-30, a Telegram bot claiming to be affiliated with Al-Qassam solicited donations in Bitcoin cryptocurrency. It seems likely that the bot is not authentic, as it was not promoted by any official Hamas Telegram channels. Another anomaly is that the bot was promoted on platforms run by Al-Qaeda and Islamic State (ISIS) supporters. In April 2023, Al-Qassam announced that it was no longer accepting Bitcoin donations, after doing so for years.
