On August 6, 2016, it was reported that the website of Iran's Arabic television channel Al-'Alam had been hacked by hacker group AMAR^SHG. The hackers defaced the website and left a message on the home page. AMAR^SHG previously defaced the official website of Météo-France, France's national meteorological service, on May 23. They also defaced the official website of the French premium cable television channel Canal+. On April 12, 2015, Al-'Alam said that its Twitter account had been hacked, resulting in a tweet of a false report of the death of Yemen's Houthi leader Abdel Malek al-Houthi. Al-'Alam blamed Saudi Arabia for the hack.
