On September 15, 2023, the U.S. Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated "29 individuals and entities in connection with the Iranian regime's violent suppression of nationwide protests following the death of Mahsa 'Zhina' Amini in custody of its 'morality police,' and the regime's continued efforts to detain dissenting voices and restrict access to a free and open internet."[1]
Several of the entities named in the designation remain active on the X platform (formerly Twitter), as of this writing, including Tasnim News Agency, Fars News Agency, and Press TV.
