On October 26, 2016, it was reported that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had announced the development of what it calls a "suicide drone" capable of delivering explosives to targets on both land and sea. The Tasnim news agency reported that while the drone is primarily purposed for maritime surveillance and has not been designed to carry missiles, it can carry heavy payloads of explosives for attacks.
The drone is designed to fly as low as two feet above water at a speed of approximately 250 kilometers (160 miles) per hour, and could reach an altitude of 900 meters (3,000 feet). It is also equipped with an advanced military camera capable of operation during both night and day, as well as in damp sea conditions.
