Salafi-Jihadi Outlet On Telegram Solicits Donations Via Bitcoin, Tether, Ethereum, As Winter Charity Campaign For Syrians, Gazans

On October 29, 2024, a pro-jihadi Telegram channel which describes itself as an Islamic non-profit organization focused on assisting Muslims through aid, medical assistance, and education, shared a poster promoting a fundraising campaign for needy families in Syria and in the Gaza Strip, soliciting donations in cryptocurrency.

According to the poster, the campaign hopes to provide families with warm blankets, wood heaters, winter clothing, and firewood, and priced the donations at $10, $25, $50, and $200, respectively.

The poster included crypto wallet addresses for donations in Bitcoin, Ethereum Request for Comment 20 (ERC20), and Tether (USTD) cryptocurrencies. Donations for the Gaza campaign and the Syria campaign are collected separately, with each campaign assigned a separate wallet address for each cryptocurrency. The post also included a Telegram channel to reach out to the campaign with questions.
