Within 24 hours of the launch of the authorized website of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) it was taken down.
The TTP website, which the group said was sponsored by Umar Media and was to serve as its central information portal, hosted videos, a magazine, and interviews with and statements by its leaders.
Umar Media, it said, was the only body authorized to issue TTP messages and statements, and the website provides an email address for main TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid and other email addresses.
The website was taken down within 24 hours of its launch; the site's owner said that the domain "was registered in November 2013, and until yesterday, we had no idea as to what the content on the website would be."
However, according to a report, Indian hacker "Godzilla," who earlier hacked a number of popular Pakistani sites, including those of Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Pakistan Army, took responsibility for the TTP site's disappearance.
