Australian Islamic Scholar Abu Ousayd Mocks Hindu Community By Eating Beef, Claims He Received Death Threats Following Video Of His Sermon Published By MEMRI

On April 23, 2023, Australian Islamic scholar Wissam "Abu Ousayd" Haddad posted to his Instagram account a video in which he mocked the Hindu community by eating a hamburger and saying he doesn't have any "beef" with anyone. In the video, he claimed that he received death threats after MEMRI published a recent sermon of his in which he referred to Hindus as "worshippers of cows and monkeys" (see MEMRI TV Clip No, 10241). Abu Ousayd added the hashtags #kashmir #smile #halalhumour.

Wissam "Abu Ousayd" Haddad: "Assalam alaikum and Allah's mercy upon you, brothers and sisters and anyone else who may see this video. After MEMRI TV posted on their website and on Twitter a certain thing that I said in the sermon that offended the Hindu community, calling them the worshippers of cows and monkeys, so much so that some of them have given me some death threats, had some mean things to say...

"So I just wanted to come out there and have my say. Just to say that I don't want to have any beef with anyone out there. And in fact, I don't want to have beef with anyone out there so much, that I decided to come outside and just have a beef by myself. So anyone in the [Hindu] community who is offended, I am saying this again: I don't want to have any beef. Bismilla."
