Chinese journalist Li Gang said in a May 30, 2020 monologue that aired on CGTN Arabic TV (China) that U.S. President Donald Trump and the Western media have been accusing China of being the source of the coronavirus, but that these things are nothing but politically motivated rumors and lies. He said that President Trump launched this "campaign" against China in order to "export" the crisis, make excuses for his own incompetence, and avoid responsibility. In addition, Kang said that this American campaign of false accusations should be viewed as a preemptive strike in the post-coronavirus conflict that he said will take place. He also predicted that the balance of power in the world is about to change and that China will take a leading role in the new world order, at the expense of America’s power and position in the world.

Li Gang: "Since American President Donald Trump used the term 'Chinese Virus' in reference to the novel coronavirus, on March 16, the Western propaganda machine began making false accusations against China. Conspiracy theories began spreading among the people that China is the source of the virus or that the virus leaked from a lab in Wuhan. Is that really the truth? It is clear that these are nothing but American rumors and lies because they are not based on irrefutable scientific proofs and are politically motivated.

"I believe that the Trump administration launched this campaign against China for several reasons. First of all, the corona crisis has exposed America's failure in fighting the virus, even though the American health system is the strongest in the world. The Trump administration has faced accusations due to this failure.

"More than 38 million Americans have filed for unemployment. In addition, the financial markets have collapsed. All these crises have exposed President Trump to harsh criticism. Therefore, by launching this campaign against China, he is trying to portray China as responsible for spreading the virus, to export the crises, and to make excuses for his failure and incompetence and to evade his own responsibility. Secondly, because China has proven its ability to control the coronavirus, this campaign should be considered as an American preemptive strike against China, in preparation for the post-coronavirus conflict. The balance of power in the world is expected to change when the coronavirus crisis is over. A lot has been said about the progress of China, which will take a leading role in the new world order at the expense of America's power and position."
