Former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki said in a September 24, 2020 interview on Etejah TV (Iraq) that he calls upon the Iraqi and American governments to peacefully agree to end the U.S. presence in Iraq. In addition, he said that there is a Zionist plot to divide all the countries in the Middle East so that Israel can become a superpower and rule the region with an iron fist. He also warned that the successful implementation of this plan would destroy the Islamic nation.
Nouri Al-Maliki: "Out of compassion for Iraq, I call upon the Iraqi and American governments to sit down and agree on the peaceful termination of the U.S. forces' presence [in Iraq].

"The plan to [divide Iraq] is an old one. It was exposed by the PLO in the past. It is a Zionist plan to divide Syria, to divide Saudi Arabia, to divide Iraq, to divide Jordan, and to divide Turkey and even Iran. In other words, they want to divide all the countries surrounding [Israel], turning them into cantons and mini-states, which will find it difficult to reach agreements among themselves. There will not be a large power capable of confronting the Zionist Israeli presence in the region.
"This is an old plan, and if anyone tells you that they have abandoned it, tell him he is wrong. This is the plan they have adopted and if they manage to implement it, they will destroy the Islamic nation. If they succeed in fragmenting Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey, and Iran. Israel will become the superpower controlling the region with an iron fist, and in keeping with the moral norms that the Zionist entity is known for. This plan exists. Some Americans have spoken about it, and we answered them in a powerful manner, forcing them to apologize, but I am not convinced that plan to divide Iraq has come to an end."
