Former IRGC Commander-in-Chief, General Yahya Rahim Safavi, who currently serves as Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's senior armed forces advisor, said in a September 22, 2020 interview with Iranpress News Agency that over the past 40 years, Iran has become a regional power. He said that America and the Zionists have grown weaker, and that a third Islamic awakening is about to begin in North Africa and sweep through Asia. He predicted that the power of the Islamic world will soon be shown.
General Yahya Rahim Safavi: "In the past 40 years, the Americans and the Zionists have grown weaker, and they have suffered great defeats.

"Conversely, Iran has grown stronger in the past 40 years. We have preserved our national strength, as well as our influence and defensive power. Our strategic defense depth has reached the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. In other words, in the past 40 years we have transformed from a national power into a regional power in West Asia.

"The peoples of the region do not accept the reconciliation with the Zionists. The peoples of the region have awakened. The third wave of the Islamic awakening will start soon. This third wave of Islamic awakening will come from North Africa and will [sweep through] eastern and western Asia. The Americans are no longer the only superpower in the world. The world advances into the multi-polarity of power, and the rising power of the Islamic people and the Islamic world will be shown soon."
